Freshmen, returning students, and their families have been arriving on the Jacobs University campus this week as the university’s ninth academic year begins. With in total 1227 young people from 99 nations, the Jacobs campus again is the most international in Germany, in Europe ever. The TheaterSpace project hopes to create a permanent home for the diverse performing talents represented by students from 99 nations who study at Jacobs. “TheaterSpace is dedicated to showcasing performing arts of all kinds at Jacobs University.” Project organiser and Krupp College office manager Rene Wells is no stranger to managing athletic, theatrical, and other large scale student activities.

Astronomy, physics and geophysics[edit]

Jacobs University’s Alumni Association held its first board meeting of the year in Stockholm. The Green EFFORTS project started in January; it involves eight industry and science partners and is coordinated by Jens Froese, Professor of Maritime Logistics at Jacobs. On May 6, 2011 Jacobs University Bremen celebrated the Homecoming 2011 of the Executive MBA in European Utility Management (EUM). The Robotics Group from Jacobs University finished second at the ‘Solutions in Perception Challenge’ held during the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) in Shanghai, China.
